Data Science Perspectives – Multidisciplinary PhD Conference 2022
Newcastle University is delighted to organise and host the 2022 Data Science Perspectives – Multidisciplinary PhD Conference, aimed at PhD students from across the entire Turing Institute network. Our primary aim in offering this conference is to facilitate network and community building among early-career researchers in data science and AI research areas, whilst also providing an opportunity to share research, build future collaborations and benefit from professional development activities. The Alan Turing Institute is the UK’s national institute for data science and artificial intelligence. The Institute is named in honour of Alan Turing, whose pioneering work in theoretical and applied mathematics, engineering and computing is considered to have laid the foundations for modern-day data science and artificial intelligence. The Institute’s goals are to undertake world-class research in data science and artificial intelligence, apply its research to real-world problems, drive economic impact and societal good, lead the training of a new generation of scientists, and shape the public conversation around data and algorithms. This event is supported by The Alan Turing Institute. The Turing is not involved in the agenda or content planning.
North East digital sector 2023 outlook
The North East’s digital and tech sector is continuing to accelerate despite a backdrop of significant economic headwinds, with strong inward investment stemming from our fast-paced innovation and global reach. In 2022, a growing number of international companies demonstrated their confidence in the region by choosing to locate here, with the likes of Version 1, Arctic Wolf, Monstarlab and Credera all creating jobs and growth locally. Building on this momentum, Womble Bond Dickinson in partnership with North East Times, UKTN and Invest Newcastle (part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative) is hosting an event at The Catalyst, Newcastle Helix on Wednesday 8 February from 9:00am- 1:00pm. The event will include panel sessions to discuss the current state of the region's tech sector, recent and upcoming inward investment opportunities and how the North East is leading the way by using digital for good, whether that be in health and life sciences, sustainability or wider ESG commitments. Full speaker list and agenda to follow in due course. Cost : Free
