The Catalyst

This in-person event run in partnership between the Cognitive Frailty Interdisciplinary Network (CFIN) and the National Innovation Centre on Ageing (NICA) will bring a wide range of stakeholders together to facilitate new partnerships, exchange perspectives on cognitive frailty and stimulate new research ideas and solutions. Researchers, industry leads and older advisors who are potential end users of innovations will all be present.

Cognitive Frailty describes the intersection of mild cognitive decline and physical frailty in older people that affects ability to perform everyday activities and is a risk state for falls, later dementia and need for care support. It is an important condition because it is preventable, treatable and reversible, unlike dementia. CFIN is funded by UKRI (one of 11 networks nationally) to bring together research, industry, the public, health care practitioners and the voluntary and community sector. They aim to promote research and innovation to address health inequalities, improve health resilience, and increase health and quality of life in older age.
