Helix selected as home for new Mayor and Combined Authority
The decision was taken after a list of potential sites across the North of Tyne area was considered.
The Lumen was selected based on:
- accessibility to public transport
- value for money
- proximity to key stakeholders
- availability of parking
- future expansion opportunities
The decision to choose The Lumen building on Helix means the new mayor will be based at the heart of the area’s advanced research offer.
Formal meetings of the Combined Authority will continue to take place at different locations across the North of Tyne area.
A number of new employees will be joining the Combined Authority team over the coming months to provide support for the incoming Elected Mayor.
