Outdoor events in October 22

Renault Megane Test Drives

Between 05 and 09 October, Renault will be using space near The Lumen. They will create a test drive hub for the new, 100% electric Megane.

Cars will be moving on and off the Helix site as test drives start and end. There will also be a 12m x 7m hospitality unit located on site.

Rugby League World Cup

The Rugby League World Cup opens at St James' Park on Saturday 15 October 2022.

As part of the build up to the opening game, there will be a public performance event called, The Power of Performance: This is us

The event takes place in three locations:

1. Strawberry Place (behind the Gallowgate stand)
2. Science Square at Helix
3. Blue Star Square at Helix

Build and sound check

Build for the performance will begin on Friday 07 October. The event breakdown will finish on Tuesday 17 October.

During this time the stage areas in each zone will be fenced off but access in and out of all buildings will be maintained.

The event will include music and speech which will be amplified in several areas. They will not exceed guidelines for outdoor events.

Technical checks and rehearsals will be required on Thursday 13, Friday 14 and Saturday 15 October. We will keep these to a minimum and will reduce volume where possible during office hours to minimise disruption. All amplified noise will be between 8:00am and 8:00pm on the above days.

Road Closures

On Saturday 15 October Strawberry Place, Bath Lane and Heber Street will be closed 0800 - 1500. Access roads on the Helix site will also be close.

Access to the multi-storey car park via Corporaration Street will remain open.
