Tender Opportunity: help us to deliver new homes at Helix

To help us with the next phase of development we're letting a contract. The scope of the contract is for the sale of land to a contractor. The contractor will use their experience, capability, and resources to invest in and deliver the development, construction, and sale of residential homes.

This will support our vision to help us all live better lives. Easier, healthier, smarter, and longer.

Part of this is achieved through the research and innovation undertaken on site by businesses, academics and researchers. Together we are finding solutions to some of society's most pressing challenges.

But as important is the creation of new opportunities for urban living.

The development of six residential plots provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to bring forward a new community and place where people can live well.

The vision for these dwellings is no different to our overall ambition and we expect the highest standard of housing, taking inspiration from places like the Sterling Prize winning Goldsmith Street in Norwich.

The six residential plots represent approximately 5.5 acres of our overall site. There is a requirement from Homes England to achieve a minimum of 440 residential units.

It is worth noting that Karbon Homes has already secured planning consent for the 66-unit Future Homes scheme. This would contribute to the 440 unit requirement. Future Homes is not included in this opportunity.

Beyond the residential plots, Helix brings together industry leaders, businesses, and world-leading researchers into an internationally-renowned innovation cluster. It is fast-becoming a landmark location for technology, and business. The site is creating more than 4,000 jobs and 500,000 sq. ft of office and research space.

This tender opportunity is the next step in the transformation and regeneration of this area of the city.

Newcastle University is letting this contract on behalf of Newcastle Science Central Management LLP and a minimum land receipt of £5,000,000 (five million pounds sterling) must be paid to the LLP.
