"The best schoolday ever!”

BUILDING BLOCKS is a unique event where Newcastle Helix welcomes 240 energetic local primary school children on-site.

Held on a typical working day, the 9-10 year-olds join interactive workshops featuring AI, data, Lego, LED lights and geo-spatial mapping. The day is a collaboration between the Helix community (NECA, Altitude Foundation, CGI, NICD) and Helix friends (Newcastle United Foundation, RTC North). All are dedicated to delivering social impact. Aimed at helping families from more socially-deprived areas and children with SEND, the workshops explore coding, robotics and SMART technology. Building Blocks inspires young minds about what’s possible in their future study and work on their doorstep.
