It’s a 24-acre testbed and collaborative ecosystem for public and private bodies that’s unlike anything else in the UK. Hundreds of innovators, businesses and progressive homeowners living and working side by side, along with great food, drink and entertainment venues. Businesses who co-locate here benefit profoundly from being in the centre of one of the most important innovation hubs in Europe.
And it’s not just about businesses – it’s for absolutely everyone. You can grab a bite to eat. Catch up with mates over coffee. Listen to a public talk in our 750-seat auditorium. Learn how we collect and use data. Bring the kids around for amazing science demonstrations. And much more. Because this is your space to discover. That’s why we have free public WiFi throughout the quarter. And with five avenues, three cross streets and three beautiful new public squares, Helix deserves to be explored on foot. What are you waiting for?
A stunning residential neighbourhood
The Helix is also a residential community, with hundreds of planned homes. These one, two and three bedroomed homes are exemplars of sustainable urban development and incredibly efficient to heat. In time, you’ll even find dozens of state-of-the-art smart homes you can run from your phone. These homes are affordable, and are a mixture of social rent and Rent to Buy.
Along with the public spaces of Blue Star Square, named after the famous Newcastle Brown Ale blue star, Science Square and Knowledge Square, many of the residential apartment blocks have green spaces on their roofs for residents to share.
This is the future of living, right in the heart of one of the best cities in the UK. And it’s getting noticed. Newcastle Helix was awarded the Collaborators Award in the EG Awards 2019, given to developments that are at the forefront of innovation in the property and built environment industry.
