Newcastle Urban Observatory's City Heartbeat
Newcastle Helix is about enabling people to live better lives. We're so proud to be home to the Urban Observatory which is part of the UK's largest open data sensing network. They manage over 10,000 city observations per minute – from air quality to traffic flows. This anonymous data is provided as open source, in real time and can help answer engineering, science and social questions by providing real data to back up decision making.
The City Heartbeat shows a regional map that is constantly moving as every data piece is captured from number plates to air quality – it shows the work of Newcastle Helix in action!
